Blueshift is not available to download yet. There is no public App Store listing and no public beta. This guide describes the intended first-run experience after release.
Requirements (at release)
- macOS 15.0 or newer
- A Mac that can run Mac App Store apps
- Blueshift will be distributed as a sandboxed Mac App Store app
Install (when available)
After Blueshift ships, install it from the Mac App Store, then open it from Applications or Launchpad.

Planned first launch
- If no document is restored, the Home window opens.
- Choose Open PDF…, New Blank PDF, or open a recent file.
- Viewing, search, and printing (when permitted) work without Pro.
- To save edits, organize pages, annotate, or fill forms, unlock Blueshift Pro from Blueshift → Unlock Editing… or the Unlock Editing control.
Everyday workflow (planned)
- Sidebar: Pages (thumbnails), Outline (when the PDF has one), or Notes (annotations).
- Search: ⌘F, then Find Next / Find Previous with ⌘G / ⇧⌘G.
- Pages: Rotate, duplicate, delete, reorder, insert PDFs or images, extract, and split.
- Annotate: Highlight, underline, strikeout, note, text box, rectangle, oval, and freehand ink.
- Forms: Fill existing AcroForm fields when the PDF allows form entry.
- Document Information: ⌘I for read-only metadata and permission state.
Password-protected PDFs
Enter the password when prompted. Canceling leaves the document locked; use Enter Password… to try again. Blueshift does not store the password.
Sandbox and privacy
Blueshift uses user-selected file access and processes documents locally. Network access is for StoreKit purchases only. See the Privacy Policy.
