Getting Started with Dacx

Open media files, use the equalizer, compact mode, and system media controls in Dacx.

Install Dacx

Download an installer for Windows, macOS, or Linux from rosie.run/dacx/downloads. All dependencies, including libmpv, are included.

System Requirements

  • macOS: macOS 15 (Sequoia) or newer.
  • Windows & Linux: x64 architecture.

Open files

Drag and drop audio or video files onto the window, use Open File, or double-click supported types if you enabled file associations during install.

Playback controls

  • Play, pause, seek, and volume from the main window or your OS media keys (SMTC / Now Playing).
  • Resume playback picks up where you left off for supported files.
  • Switch audio tracks when the file contains multiple streams.
  • Control playback speed using the transport control or keyboard shortcuts ([, ], \).

Equalizer

Open the 10-band equalizer from the player UI. Choose a preset or adjust bands manually; settings apply to the current session.

Compact mode

Enable compact or always-on-top mode for a minimal player that stays visible while you work.

Updates

Dacx features an in-app update checker for Windows (MSI) and macOS (/Applications).

Note: In-app updates are disabled on Linux. On Linux, we recommend using the AppImage package managed with AppManager for desktop installation and updates.
